My mom went out of the house one morning to get the newspaper. She accidentally locked herself out of the house. She eventually got back into the house by putting a stepladder up to an open kitchen window and climbing in. Baby was in the house, and observed this entire episode. As soon as my mom was back in the house, Baby meowed to be let out. He immediately ran around the back of the garage and over to the stepladder at the back of the house. He climbed the ladder, and sat there meowing. He wanted to be let in the window, too.

By the way, Baby was a stray cat that my parents adopted when they lived in Florida. He lived with my parents for 15 years. During that time, my parents lived in Florida, Maine, and Massachusetts. He had to be euthanized due to kidney failure in 1994. We don't know how old he was when he was adopted.
