CAT PHILES

How'd I get here?

The ol' banana... er... ham peel

Sugar was nagging. Nag, nag, nag. "Mawwwww, I waaaant ssooooomething. Maawwwwww, I want something neowwwwwwwwwww." So, I figured it was time for the only treat she'll go for: ham.

Ham treating is a ritual here. I sit on the floor with a some deli sliced ham and tear up little pieces and put them down one at a time for both her and Grant. One for you and one for you... (you all know the routine I'm sure). I try to bunch it up a little bit for easier "pickupability" since cats mouths are not super good at that business. Lap, lap. The pieces usually end up spread out a bit. One stray piece in Sugar's first "bunch" rolled out flat. She steps forward to get the bit that is getting away and ... steps right on the flat piece. I don't know what it felt like, but I've never seen a cat make a move quite like she did. Her foot went forward just like she stepped on a banana peel. She did this funny little hop skip and got VERY embarrassed and started to go off with no ham. I know it probably doesn't sound that funny here but it was hysterical to watch.

I had to lure Sugar back with some more ham. It must have felt REAL icky though, since I know she didn't really slip, it was just her attempt to get away from that icky feeling on her paw. Sometimes these guys really crack me up!
