Please, with all due respect to each of you, be alert for any changes in/with your pet's habits. Not implying to rush out to the Vet for any reason, just know your pet's habits. If you see that your cat is drinking more so than normal and this pattern lasts for more than a few days, please by all means, place a call to your Vet. Tell him/her about this and allow your Vet to decide "what's normal and what isn't." The same applies to all of your pet's habits, including urination and how often, eating and/or off-feed, and so on. Because we are so closely attached to our pets, and emotionally involved, sometimes we overlook certain habits and/or changes because "we don't want to admit that there's a problem."
As hard as it is, it's my feeling that the sooner a diagnosis can be made the better chances our pets will have for proper and accurate treatment. A mere phone call to your Vet can save time and anguish. Just those seven digits and hearing his/her voice and opinion serves as a form of insurance, at least for me.
I would rather be accused of being "overly protective," than not. I have always tried to use common sense in respect to our pets; if they are not right, and/or acting out of the norm, a phone call takes but a few minutes. Additionally, our Vet knows from that phone call if seeing our furkids is necessary or not.
Hug and love your pets. When in doubt, check it out via your Vet.
