CAT PHILES

The Highland Furkids

What a Beautiful Day!

Talk about a wonderful day!

The weather in southern California has been wet and a bit chilly for the last few weeks. Yesterday (March 5, 2003) was a real treat - no rain, very few clouds in the sky, temperatures that are almost comfortable in shirtsleeves.

I got home from work while there was still some daylight left. The three furgirls and I went out back and enjoyed things. Since the landlord had come over and mowed the back lawn that morning, I could sit in a lawn chair and enjoy the smell of freshly cut grass. DD was springing over the few remaining clumps of weeds next to the house and swatting at the occasional moth. Cleopatra was making a circuit of all the areas of loose dirt, making sure they were still suitable for litter needs.

Amelia was pouncing on bugs (some visible, some imaginary) and hunting gophers, sticking her paw all the way down the gopher holes all the way to her shoulder. My wife arrived home while we were outside and joined us, marveling at the acrobat skills of the feline members of the family.

We got a good 30 minutes of daylight before sunset was upon us. Our daylight visits to the "Out" are usually only done on weekends; this weeknight outside was a real treat.
