CAT PHILES

Tails from the Summer Kingdom

Cats make the best pillows

Well, it's been a long and busy week for me. The entire exhaust system finally rusted off my car, so it's necessitated me taking public transportation to get around (yikes!). One of the errands I had to run was to the vet, to get Cosmo's K/D food. He's in the early stages of CRF, and he's doing just great so far on that food, so he absolutely *has* to have it. Getting to the vet by bus ain't easy, I'll tell ya. Six different buses and two hours to get there and back -- whew! But I got him his food, and came home exhausted from my ordeal.

I was tired and cold after my ordeal, and took the two pillows we have on our couch and laid them at the other end of the couch from where they usually are. I lay down, and watched the news, while trying to rest my aching body and get warm under the hand-made comforter my mother-in-law gave us a few Christmases ago.

After relaxing for awhile, I got up to do a few things, and then came back to the couch to move the pillows back to the other end of the couch. I started to pick the first one up, but it felt very oddly heavy. It's just an ancient bed pillow in an old case, half falling apart. "Hmmm," I thought, "wonder why this is so heavy suddenly? Am I losing my mind?"

I tried to pick it up again, and I definitely was not going mad. It was *very* heavy. Suddenly, I noticed something else odd. There was some white fur visible inside the pillow case. I stuck my hand inside the case, and felt a fuzzy Wolfie butt. His head was completely at the closed end of the pillowcase, where he had apparently been snoozing quite comfortably, thank you.

I couldn't think of a nicer, fluffier, softer pillow than a Wolfie cat.
