CAT PHILES

Cattail's Karen

Bizzy Cattail Bizzy

Spring brings soooo much new work! Cattail's job is to be the resident "watchcat" of our condo campus and he takes his job seriously, patrolling and checking out anything new or changed several times daily from early morning to late at night.

Suddenly, the pace has stepped up considerably with *two* new cats in the immediate neighborhood. "Charles" moved in awhile back, but hasn't been allowed outside much until the weather has begun to warm up some days and his patio door can be left open. One new cat on the scene is interesting enough for Cattail, but a couple days ago a huge moving van arrived and someone new moved into another building near us. The one which Cattail spends most of his "woodsy time" behind.

Yesterday a new cat appeared at our patio door and was boldly looking inside (Cattail was outside at the time). It was an "ossie" cat (the ones that look like an Ocelot). I figured this cat must have just moved here with the new residents. Awhile later, I opened the door to go out and the cat bounded from my padded patio chair where it had boldly been napping in the sun. Not a very shy cat to be outside already exploring the neighborhood and making itself comfortable at Cattail's home!

Cattail spent a lot of time outdoors yesterday and this morning he was out for several hours. There is sooo much sniffing to do and the anxiety of this new cat possibly threatening his position as **#1** cat around here. Charles doesn't appear to be a threat, but Cattail has never encountered a bold "ossie" cat before.

He's going to have trouble going on camping trips with the addition of these two new cats on the scene. He has to stand his ground around here and being off on vacation for more than a day or two could pose a problem when he returns.

Oh my, he has a lot on his mind now and necessary work to maintain his status and keep close track of everything. These new cats have to be "trained" so they know the pecking order around here. So much to do this Spring and Summer. So bizzy, so bizzy.....
