CAT PHILES

Phoenix Phelines

Bug Huntress

A cicada got into the house a few nights ago. As soon as it started to buzz and whirr around the family room Lucy went totally banana foo foo. She caught it in less than a minute.

Being a cat, she couldn't just let it be, she had to put it down and pat it to make it move again, and so the bug flew toward the ceiling. She began to scream and run all over the kitchen demanding that we catch her bug for her so she could play with it some more. She ran all over my kitchen counters, trying to get her bug back.

We turned the lights off in the kitchen and left one lamp on in the family room and the insect flew toward the light where Lucy caught it again. She walked around with it buzzing in her mouth.

Spooky was so totally clueless. He tried to "help" Lucy catch the thing, but had no idea what to do with it when it came his way. He batted at it, but Lucy shoved him out of the way and took over. Even Dorrie tried her paw at it, but the other two were too excited to let her get too close to it.

That poor bug kept the three of them busy for the better part of an hour. They finally stunned it and I tossed it outside.

Now every night since, Lucy has been holding vigil at the back door in case another one comes in.
