CAT PHILES

Smooth as Velvet... and Cleo!

Bumps and Bangs

This morning, at seven o'clock, I was awakened by my Cleo-kitty, with a nudge of a cold wet nose, followed by a warm face brushed across mine, and, a request "by paw" to come under the covers with me ensued. The word "cave" is Cleo's signal to come in, a word she understands, like "dinner".

Nine-year-old Cleo comes under the covers and wraps herself around my legs, purring like a motorcycle, an idyllic situation.

Then up comes Tippy, my four-year-old Tabby boy, his own "motorcycle" going. He deftly ignores the bump in the bed that is not me, and comes for some love. He too, wishes to come under the covers, and I try to dissuade him knowing "la Grande Belle Puss" is already there, but he is persistent.

Devilry enters my mind, and I let him enter too, and once he is, I split out the other side of the bed. There were then two bumps, converging.

I came into the kitchen, and made some toast, awaiting the Nuclear style bang. Why?

Tippy and Cleo have a "thing", so an unexpected rendezvous might bring surprise, but not much.

However, I passed Jumbo Velvet on the way, heading eagerly for the bed.

A "Nuclear style bang"... I'm just waiting for it!
