Recently someone asked where our cats sleep and a discussion of heat registers took place. About six months ago I bought a new comforter for our bed. I thought I had temporarily thrown the old, worn comforter in the dining room until I could decide what to do with it. (This thing is 10 years old but when I thought to throw it in the trash the image of cold, homeless individuals flashed in my mind and I couldn't just trash it). What I didn't realize at the time was that I'd thrown the thing under the heat vent in a dark corner of the dining room. Selena and Hobbes have claimed it as their own. I can't give it away or throw it away now! I don't doubt that in the summer when it's hot they will lie on it enjoying the cold air that comes from that vent. But like everyone else's cats, mine don't have one place they like to sleep. They sleep on the bed, in the closet, on the dresser or bedside table, the cat condo, the back of the couch, the foot of the recliner... This week however, Selena has reached new creativity in her choice of sleeping spots.
I have a sort of clothes hamper. It's made of a plastic pipe frame that that supports a canvas bag with three compartments that allows you to sort the clothes when you put them in the bag. Being the diligent housekeeper that I am, the clothes have reached the top of the bag. Selena has decided that this is the most comfortable place in the house to sleep! Tonight I washed two loads of clothes. I told my husband that I sure hope Selena looks before she leaps tonight since the level of clothes is about 1 1/2 feet lower than the last time she jumped in there. I don't know if she did look first or if it was accidental, but moments ago I walked by the hamper and was going to throw something in. I glanced down and found Selena, snuggled down inside the bag, curled into a puddle of content, kitty.
She sure does give me warm fuzzies when I least expect it!
