CAT LOVE
This is an extensive but by no means exhaustive
list of the things we love about cats.
- I love my cat Mojo's incredible beauty - he's a long-haired "tuxedo" cat, with a slender yet solid build, whose downy soft, gleaming coat, and thick, plumy tail, bring to mind the Blackglama Mink ad slogan "What Becomes a Legend Most?" Yet, when Mojo is being playful, or is in the mood for love, this gorgeous baby turns into a total clown, flying from one end of my apartment to the other in a split second, or writhing on the floor, rapidly flipping from one side to another, demanding to have his back scratched. At night, he's either curled up on the pillow I rest my arm on, or at the foot of the bed. If I get up during the middle of the night, he lets out a soft little trill, and is right on my heels. One of my favorite beauty treatments is having a "Mojo facial". I love his tuna breath, and his baritone-pitched "MOWW-rrrrrrr".
- I love my cat Marceau's round, plump body (he, too, is a magnificent, long-haired "tuxedo"), and the way he waddles when he walks. I love how he squints at me when we make eye contact from across the room. I love his sweet, gentle disposition, and how, even though he weighs at least 20 pounds, still mews like a kitten. His regal bearing - the way he sprawls out on his favorite sleeping spot, on his tummy, and extends one arm all the way forward. And how, when he occasionally allows me to give him "mushy love", purrs loud enough to be heard from down the block.
- I simply adore both of their cold, wet noses, their pointy-eared rounded backs silhouetted in my window, as dawn breaks, and their pink toes, with long tufts of white fur in between.

- I love the way Hobbes waits for me to arrive home each night.
- I love it when I say something to Hobbes and he grips the carpet in his paw like he can't take it until he recieves love and cuddles.
- I love the way he smells.
- I love his original high-pitched kitten voice even though he's a 7-year-old male.
- I love his sandpaper kisses that welcome me each morning.
- I love when he waves his hand at me when I'm busy on the computer.
- Most of all, I love how much unconditional love he gives me each day.
by Moonkitten
- I love the way my cat Eightball runs in and out the door like the dogs of hell are after her. (She has NEVER been caught in the door!!)
- I love the way she cries to be loved but when I put my hand out to pet her she runs like crazy.
- I love the way she sleeps on whichever side of me I'm not sleeping on.
- I love the way my cat Frickie tries to take a bit of my food as it's on it's way to my mouth!
- I love the way Frickie doesn't mind my laying on him.
- And, I love the way Frickie loves fresh water so much he gets up in the kitchen sink to drink even when I'm cooking and washing dishes.

- I love the way my cat Smokey purrs so much.
- I love how she rolls over in such an endearing way.
- I love how she knows when I'm upset and asks me if I'm alright when I cough or sneeze.
- I love how she sleeps on the bed each night and asks to get under the cover when she's cold.
- I love her because she's such good company and because she's just so beautiful.
by Janet O'Neill
- I love how my Andy loves having his tummy stroked.
by Gwen Raikes
- I love the way my kitten Wolfey used to stop and turn, then charge up my chest to suck on my neck and purr. Poor Wolfey was a feline leukemia kitten and only lived six months.
- I love the way our big red/orange cat Tiger practices his 'aloof' technique until it's time to eat, or play, or scratch, or sleep, or whatever the heck HE wants!
- I love the way our Tigers' pet cat Oscar waits until Tiger is not there and then demands we give 100% of our attention to him until Tiger returns.
- Did I mention I love that they have fur and purr and look so intelligent?
by Robin Arthur
- I love the way my 9-year-old cat, appropriately named Suckie, still kneads and sucks on our knuckles and fingers when he's happy. He is always happy to see me and my family and he gives unconditional love - even after we gave him such a silly name!

I love it when:
- Harry lays in my lap like a baby and touches my face with his paw and when he sits on my lap in his special Harry (bum in air and head in my hand) position.
- Molly (the timid one of the family) snuggling up to me in bed looking for my hands under the covers so I can stroke her and when she calls me from a hiding place so she knows I'm there and she is safe.
- Cleo comes in from the garden just to brush up against me to say hello then goes back out and when after several months (she's a rescue cat) I was finally allowed a proper cuddle.
- Tess (another rescue cat) sitting on my lap or next to me on the sofa and rubs her head on my hand and when closes her eyes and holds her head up higher for me to kiss
her.
- And finally the new one, as yet un-named, but currently being called "Stray Cat". After six months holding out my hand and him coming to me to stroke him and watching his delight in his new discovery - my bed (his new pleasure in life is just sleeping on a soft bed with a full stomach in the warm and the only threat he has to worry about is me hovering to see if he is okay.)

With four of them my cup runs over and the love they give is returned. Their lives they have entrusted to me is enough for me to say each day "Purrsssss I love u too".

- I love it when I hear a faint 'meow' and I look around but my Aja isn't anywhere to be seen. I look around calling her and I find that I have accidentally closed her in the kitchen cupboard - cheeky thing, but so cute.

by Don Porchia
- I love their curiosity for everything.
- I love the face they put when they know you are preparing food for them.
- I love that they are so grateful and loving, coming to you purring and rubbing your face, after you've given them food, or let them enjoy outside in the garden for a while, or after a playing session.
- I love that mysterious subtle connection you can establish with them when you love them dearly, that you feel you know exactly what they are thinking, and you feel they know well what you are thinking yourself.
by Maria Escribano

I love...
- Kai's belly because it is fluffy and squishy and just right for rubbing.
- The way he waits by the door and meows when he hears me coming up the stairs.
- The way he lays on my feet in the bathroom.
- The way he constantly tries to open the "toy drawer" when we pick out the wrong toy.
- The way he likes to help us look for his missing toys under the couch or wherever else he puts them.
- The way he brings his toys to bed at night and sleeps with them.
- The way I fall asleep with him on the foot of the bed, but he is always cuddled up next to my side when I wake up in the morning.
- The way he "mrrps" at me all the time.
- The way he's afraid of thunder and fireworks and he always hides under the covers with me.
- The way he waits for me to finish the (few) household chores that I do -- impatiently -- so that we can play.
- The way he *always* helps me to fold sheets or make the bed.
- The way he stops whatever he's doing and runs straight for the door whenever he thinks my husband is supposed to be coming home.
- The way he sits with me continuously whenever I'm sick or feeling sorry for myself.
- The way he's gullible and goofy and a complete sucker.
- Because he's so darn cute when he's sleeping!
by Janet M. Schmitt
- I like cats because they are fluffy, warm and cuddly.
by Katerina, 9yo.
- I love the way they wake you up at 5:00AM *everyday* just to get a little bit of extra petting and attention. And of course, you are so honored by this that you not only allow it, but look forward to it.

I love...
- That really silky fur right behind their ears.
- Purring... 'nuff said.
- They way they could ignore the earth shattering one moment, and get all in a puff about a speck of dust on the floor the next.
- That smell of a well-groomed cat that's one part dusty, one part cat saliva, 1/2 part cat food breath, and just a hint of cat litter.
- That look of intense fury they get in their eyes right before they pounce.
- The way they say hello by touching noses.
- The way they sleep still holding their heads upright.
- They way they can go from affectionate to mania to flat all in the space of ten minutes.
- The way they carefully stretch each part of their body after waking up from a nap.
- They way they sometimes tuck their paws up under their chests when they lie down.
- The fact that they can lick their own rear ends.
- The fact that they can run up their cat pole as easily as if it were the floor.
- The way they suddenly chase invisible bugs.
- I love how my sweet little Zorro butts my hand with his head and goes so nuts with the scratching he flops right over in my lap, trying to push his head against my hand even harder! So cute. He just can't get enough luvvin'.

I love...
- The way they made *me* feel guilty after *they* broke my favourite Christmas ornament.
- The way they nestle, and jiggle, and squeeeeze their body right up into my armpit during a long cold night.
- The way they look at me when I dare to invade their space in the bed.
- The click and chatter noise of a cat hunting birds through the window.
- The way they lick compulsively after a particularly clumsy fall. As if to say, "What? I didn't just land flat on my ass... I was right here cleaning my belly all along." Lick, lick, lick.
- The way they lick my toes after I've come out of the shower.
by Becky
I love...
- The way they flex their paw when you touch the pad.
- The way they are so full of self-confidence. (And hey, if I were a feline, I would be confident too.)
by Squiggles
- I love the way my Sugar loves to have her back scratched until she can't stand it and has to fall over into my hand!
by Karen Chuplis
- I love the way that whenever I open the pantry door they come FLYING out from wherever they are, thinking they are to be fed, lose their footing on the slick floor, and go sliding and crashing into my ankles as I stand there. I have five of these whiskered maniacs, so it's "boom, slam, smash, clobber, and blast" as they fling into me one by one. It's a good thing I am not a telephone pole or a concrete wall, or else they would knock themselves unconscious.
- My favorite thing about my cats is how they always know when I am sad or upset. I don't have to be sobbing or wailing or anything like that. I can be silently sad or emotionally hurt in some way, and THEY KNOW. They come to where I am, purring, rubbing against me, making direct eye contact, and making these very soft mewling sounds in the backs of their throats, and all those things are such a comfort to me. They are always loving, affectionate cats, but they really turn on the compassion and companionship when they sense I am blue. How do they know??? God, I love them so much.
by Beckie
- I love the way they always say 'hello' when you come home and greet them.
by Martin Goff
- I love how my cat Zoe jumps up from the floor into my arms to cuddle and purr. (She's *usually* considerate enough to give me a warning meow, but not always!)
