In the fast lane with Daytona

Catnip Trip

Karen & Daytona
Karen & Daytona

Daytona did a cute thing a couple weeks ago, but I've just now had time to write about it. Daytona is crazy about catnip. She loves it so much that if I held out an open plastic baggie full of the stuff, she would dive her head into it, put a bite out, and munch on it.

This was a cute trick until the supply in the baggie started to run a bit low. I didn't realize how low it was until Daytona dived her head in so far that it got stuck in the baggie! When she realized her predicament, she jerked her head up and yanked the baggie out of my hands before I could help her. She then started to swing her head back and forth in a futile effort to remove the baggie.

I was finally able to grab a corner and pull the baggie off her head. Catnip went flying everywhere. Her head was totally coated with the stuff. Some of it got near her eyes, which gave them the appearance of swelling. She also began sneezing. It was almost as if she had hay fever!

She still loves catnip, but we no longer dive into the baggie for it. We eat it straight out of a plastic tub now.
