Flippy's Cat Page - Cat Poetry - The Cat Sat on the Mat

CAT POETRY

The Cat Sat on the Mat

The cat sat on the mat – well, fancy that:
Are you sure it was a cat and not a dog
That liked the mat enough to hog
All of the mat?

And was it an old mat, not a carpet -
Or tatty couch or mangled rug -
On which the sitting cat felt
So totally warm and snug

And why did he not only sit
and eventually fell sleep on it?
Now really I can see a parrot
Who left some seed and bits of carrot

Upon the mangled mat!
Or, is the culprit that ‘old bat’?
Just look at all the bits of bun!
Surely, when all is said and done,

Isn't it rather a crying shame?
That the cat always gets the blame.
