CAT PHILES

Confessions of a Nip-aholic

I never realized what a catnip fanatic Tanda is until today. I'd bought some loose catnip for the first time ever for the cats' Christmas stockings. I had hid it in the closet before and Tanda was lurking near it, but not nuts yet. She often lurks near my closet, so I didn't think anything of it.

Then I asked Mike to help me wrap his sister's presents as well as put the cat's toys in their stocking. Tanda got one whiff of 'nip and went nuts. She pawed through the paper, climbed into the boxes, opened up the bags, and cried for the good stuff. Mike told her that she was on the wagon until tomorrow, and put the catnip on top of my dresser. She circled my dresser for a few minutes, then leaped onto the top of an already crowded dresser. Diabetic testing equipment, deodorant, jewellery and loose change went flying. Tanda didn't care, the 'nip was here. However, I was chatting with Rob on the 'puter and saw the flying items out of the corner of my eye. I yelled at the cat, and dashed over to pick everything up. The catnip is now hidden in the top drawer of her highboy, where she can't get any purchase to open the drawer. She is sleeping on the computer stand, waiting for me to get off the computer and give her a chance to try to get the good stuff. She tried crying for me to get her the good stuff, but she'll have to wait until tomorrow, like the rest of the kids.
