No matter how hard I try to get rid of the dust bunnies in our apartment, they seem to mysteriously repopulate themselves at an alarming rate. Just the other night, I had done a thorough cleaning, and thought all of them were thoroughly evicted. Yesterday morning, there they were again, back only hours after being unceremoniously tossed out.We have a precious little orange-and-white cat named Internet. Internet is the Momma cat to all the others, bathing them and watching out for them. He's a mostly laid-back gentle little soul, whose very bad dental problems led recently to him having to have all his teeth removed.
Yesterday, to my astonishment, I watched Internet gleefully playing "toss and bat" with what appeared to be a somewhat large dust bunny. "Another one," I thought with a sigh. I started to walk towards Internet to retrieve the dust bunny when I noticed something odd. Dust bunnies don't have tails, I thought. Eeeeek! That's no dust bunny! That's a tiny little (very dead) grey mouse! Eeeeek!
I ran for a paper towel and fought my way through Internet (and a now-very-interested Trill cat) to grab the gross little thing and dispose of it. While gritting my teeth, I made certain to tell Internet what a *wonderful* little hunter kitty he was, as I wrestled the mouse away from the cats and disposed of the poor little thing.
Internet was a bit miffed, to say the least, that I took away his very fun new toy.
Personally, I think I prefer the dust bunnies.
