CAT POET'S CORNER

Elsa's Six Kittens

lots of little kitty cats
frolick on their paper mats
skidding paws - along the floors
to catch imaginary rats
tiny legs like furry springs
eject them to forbidden things
a boot becomes a tunnel deep
from which a tail and back feet peep
a terrified spider runs for the door
but his leg is trapped by a quicker paw
the pack decends to the hunting floor
and eentsie weensie is no more
the happy six rule all they purvey
a trunk, a dish, a litter tray
for now, at least, their life is play
no sweeter way to fill the day.
