Well, I found out why Bubba Kitty is so excitable when he comes to the door, and maybe why he had that nasty wound on his neck last year.I looked out the peep hole of the back door tonight, and saw Bubba Kitty sitting a couple of feet away from his food bowl, and watching while some grey cat ate his food. Now, you don't get a lot of fine detail, looking through a peep hole, but Bubba Kitty seemed irritated, but amazed.
So I slowly opened the door, hoping to see who the other cat was, and maybe to offer it a separate bowl of its own.
It was a raccoon! Very pretty, and somewhat shy. In fact, when I put a cup of food out for it, it let me skritch its ears, while Bubba Kitty gave me a "don't ENCOURAGE it look". We have some woods close to the apartment, so I imagine it came from there...
I don't know if the raccoon was previously a pet, but it was quite friendly and tame. At one point, it came up to me and asked to look at the food cup, which it took, and examined thoroughly, before returning to the food I put out for it. Little Feet, who was watching through the partly opened door, was purring.
It was a pleasant surprise to get a completely different visitor for a change, especially one who lets me get close enough to touch. Oh yeah, and who doesn't attack
.
