CAT PHILES

Krista's Cattitudes

Feeding Time in the Lion Pit

We've had a bad run with CatFood dishes lately. During the renovation, a piece of drywall fell over and smashed two bowls. We don't like the plastic CatFood bowls very much -- they get scratched and never really come clean all the way. So we started using some of the glass dessert bowls for the twice daily CatFood call.

One had a chip along an edge, and so as I was getting the CatFood ready in the morning, I bumped it against something else, and it broke in half. The cats were *very concerned*. Fortunately I have more dessert bowls, or we would have had CatFood musical chairs combined with wrestling & boxing.

I confess to encouraging the fun & games by taking a half scoop of dry crunchies, hollering "Feeding Frenzy" and tossing them up in the air so they scatter on the floor. Twinkle Afar & Polaris scoot about grabbing as many as possible. Yukon wanders slowly about, eating what he can catch. Jubilee is only just figuring out what all the fuss is about....

Then for the musical chairs. Four bowls don't quite fit along one wall, so three are put down first and then the last one put down in a separate place a few feet away. Certain cats don't like to sit together, so they jostle about to get in the "right" order, and then one gets the separate bowl. Sometimes Yukon can't figure out which bowl is his, and has to be shown where to eat.

After a few minutes of chewing, everyone takes a breather and switches places. Just in case somebody else has Better CatFood in their bowl.
