Today, a group of them came with cages in hand
They are intent to catch us and don't disband
Suddenly, the trap is sprung and off to the vet we go
Scared and hungry our fate unknown
Before we know it we are checked and asleep
Time passes and then we awake
Our ears have been clipped and our bodies are a bit sore
The humans call it spaying and neutering so our numbers don't grow
Now we are back in the place we were found
For our colony, this is sacred ground
A human caretaker comes every day to bring us food and water
This is so our life is easier and not harder
So, the next time you see us, don't view us as a nuisance or be mad
We prefer to live in peace and share this world
For us this would be grand
