In this house there are only four foods that we have to watch out for, and avoid leaving unattended on the counter.1) Angel Food Cake: I don't know what it is about Angel Food cake, but both Chewie and Enzo go ape over the stuff. I really like it too, so I can't blame them. I usually buy the pre-made ones from the store and snack on little bits of it plain. If I leave the plastic container of angel food cake on the counter both boys will be in there in a flash prying the lid off and digging in. A couple weeks ago I left a cake on the counter and went to check the mail. When I got back there were hunks of cake laying in on the kitchen floor, cake crumbs every which way, and two cats licking their chops and trying to look innocent.
2) Carrots!: this is really weird. The smell of carrots drives Chewie crazy. He won't eat them, but he likes to lick them and rub his face and body all over them. If I chop up some carrots and then pet him with the carrot smell still on my hand he goes nuts and starts chewing away at my fingers and purring. Also, if I don't completely get all the carrot smell off the counter where the bag was sitting, I will often find Chewie rubbing his body on that spot.
3) Vegetable Thins: if I am eating these crackers and Enzo sees me he comes running over and begs for a cracker. I sometimes give him one and he licks it till it dissolves into goo. Then he leaves the goo on the floor. Uck. He doesn't get vegetable thins very often because I don't think all that crap on them can be good for him.
4) Chinese Food!: every time we order Chinese food we have to watch the little containers and make sure they are put away while we eat. Otherwise we are liable to find one of the boys digging away at the chicken fried rice, or the chow mien.
Other than those four things they pretty much couldn't care less about human food. They have never gone after meat, which strikes me as strange.
