Bonnie and Clyde wanted freedom so they got it. Today I put them out on the back lawn - supervised, of course.Bonnie, in particular, couldn't believe her good luck. In some miraculous fashion her frantic dashes had delivered her to 'heaven'. At first she just sat in the middle of the lawn, blinking, looking around at the wonders.
The back lawn is a great place for cats; there are trees everywhere, i.e. apples, figs, walnuts, leaves to pounce on, and a million creepy crawlies. We are inundated with Monarch butterflies at the moment and they swooped around like big birds. Naturally the kitties almost knocked themselves out trying to catch them but the butterflies were far too smart.
Both kitties did the whole section over with noses to the ground, checking the fence-line (there is a five foot fence). Periodically Bonnie got 'lost' and began yowling but was OK as soon as she saw me or Clyde.
It was time to go inside when Bonnie started looking at the top of the fence - now 'freedom' and 'heaven" lie on the other side of the fence and she intends to get there. But on the other side of the fence is the driveway and then the road and cars. I managed to catch them both with difficulty and took them in.
They yowled all the way inside. It was hard to give up freedom.
