For seven months going on eight, Bella and Velvet are never going to like one another. It's a rivalry that time will never settle. Bella is too smart, and street-wise. The 5-pound Bella will outrun 18-pound Velvet with whirling claws, any time, day or night. Velvet reciprocates, with much more deadly claws and power, but never catches the agile Bella. Bella always out-runs, and out-turns and out-jumps jumbo Velvet then comes back for more. It drives Velvet to distraction, and, to about 0.5 pounds off her frame. To Bella, it's a game. Funny how they will eat side by side when food is put own, or sleep within inches on the same bed.
Reminds me of the Warner brothers cartoon of Wile E. Coyote trying to outsmart Sam the English sheep dog. Everything is warfare until the clock goes off at night. Then they are friends.
Well not quite like that here, but last week we had a monumental event.
Bella crashed into Velvet at full speed. They were both running after something I had thrown toward the kitchen. Velvet, a fright train (WHOO! WHOO! Chugga chugga!) Was west bound toward the object, 18 tons (er... pounds) bearing down when Bella swang out of nowhere from the roughly east.
BOOM! the two collided, sending the slight Bella flying, but sending Velvet, brakes on, into the kitchen cabinet drawers! Bang! A terrible screeching ensued! Both were fine, but an undeniable impact had then taken place! Cat wreckage, fur everywhere. Both were fine, but both went to lie down.
Cleo and Tippy (secret lovers) were quite amused. What a sight to see! I could hear and feel the impact (*thump!*)
Is it just me, or do we chase things more gently now?
Could be?
