My brother's guard cat is on duty again!

After his Springer Spaniel, Bridget, journeyed to the Rainbow Bridge, Pat ended up with another springer, Maggie. Maggie is a very quiet girl - - she never barks. When she wants to get fed and go out in the morning she stands in the hallway and shakes her head, causing her license tag tag and ID tag to rattle. Lately, though, she has developed a rash where the tags rub against her, so they are wrapped in tape - shaking her head no longer works.

For the last few mornings Maggie has taken to coming into Pat's bedroom and nuzzling his foot to wake him up. This morning, though, he woke naturally - no Maggie nuzzles. He looked towards his bedroom door, and there was Maggie - sitting quietly. His elderly Siamese kitty, Samantha, was standing guard over his foot! Samcat wouldn't let Maggie near Pat's foot - I guess she wanted to let him sleep.

This is the same Siamese kitty that took over responsibility for barking at strangers when Bridget got sick. I guess Samcat is determined to be the best guard cat she can be!
