Hunting For Greeblies

Cats don’t respect the privacy of humans. If I forget to click the bathroom door shut, a furry nose will soon push the door open and one of our three “girls” – Martha, Emily or Sophie - will join me as I sit on the porcelain throne.

After she demands and gets her usual ear-scritch, she turns to her next project, a thorough inspection of the linen closet. All three cats consider it their duty to check for and eliminate greeblies, those mysterious creatures that only cats can see. So I open the closet door for this cat, and she peers in.

If she spots greeblies, she enters the closet and the door closes behind her. I hear a series of bumps and thumps. Then the door reopens and she pushes her way out, her task accomplished.

Satisfied, she exits the bathroom, and leaves me to sit in much-desired solitude.
