CAT PHILES

Whatever Cats Want

Lillybit at Thanksgiving Dinner

There were three of us at dinner, plus Lillybit occupying the fourth chair at the table (she wasn't supposed to be there, but you know how that goes...). A few attempts to join us on the table top were foiled, so she had to content herself with sitting on the chair. She's not a very big cat, so all we could see of her were her eyes (which never left the turkey) and ears.

At one point she was so desperate to try to get all the way up to table level, that she jumped up onto the chair back. This chair back is pretty narrow, so she looked like a drunken tightrope walker as she teetered and swayed, one leg swinging back and forth in a huge arc as she tried to use it for a counterbalance, while still keeping one eye on the turkey platter. She finally lost her balance and went head-over-heels back down onto the chair seat, where she then was forced to maintain her dignity with some energetic grooming while the three humans tried (vainly) not to laugh at her.
