CAT PHILES

TJ and The Dust

Where's the mamma?

We sure get to see the "needy" side of our little furbeasts when we change the routine don't we?

Lately Dusty has been real clingy with me. Every night while I play on the computer he sits on the desk next to me. When I am through and head for the bedroom he trots right along behind me. I climb into bed and he jumps right up and lays plastered against me for the rest of the night. Don't know why he has been doing the velcro thing but I must admit I do kinda like it.

Well.....on Sunday night I broke the routine! We were doing our usual computer play/desk lay thing but when I was through at 10:00PM I didn't head for the bedroom. Nope. I grabbed my keys and headed for the garage. See, being the devoted mommy that I am I went to camp out in line all night to secure one of the coveted 25 openings into the charter program at the Montessori school I want to enroll my daughter in. Yep, got there at ten and was rather shocked to see 7 people ahead of me in line. Some of them were there since 7:00PM and here I thought I was being extreme. Sat in my little chair with my blanket, in the cold, all freakin' night, just like waiting for concert tickets, until they opened the door at 7:00AM for registration! Nine hours with a bunch of strangers makes for some interesting conversation by 3:00AM, we bonded! By the time 7:00AM rolled around there were about 60 or more people in line. Can you say waiting list? Ha, guess who's daughter got into the program? She is good to go until the 8th grade! Thank goodness, kindergarten is the only way to enter the program under open enrollment otherwise there are big time waiting lists for all other grades! Excellent (formerly private) school and now she is in for free, woo hoo for me!

Anyhoo, when I left the Dust he was crying most pitifully on the other side of the door. By the time I got into the car I could hear him howling. Well as I said I was gone all night and my hubby said that the "f*cking udderbag" paced the hall all night mewling and howling. When I came home at about 7:30AM the next morning he was soooooo happy to see me. He tried to climb up my leg to get into my arms! I ate breakfast with him in my arms. I pretty much went right to bed and Dust popped right up on the bed and snuggled up on my pillow and placed his paw on top of my head and groomed my hair. Since then he has been constant lap fungus. Even when I am on the toilet! See, I knew he needed me all along. This just proves it. I think the nature of our relationship is taking a turn. I am going to need to think of ways to take advantage of my position while I have the all the power. Hmmmmm....any ideas?
