First day back at work after Christmas holidays today. Very hard to get up at 5:00AM with a cold and sore throat to drive the 50 km to work. But the cats made it all worthwhile.I had just fished the little mauve mousie out from under the pantry door for Twinkle Afar, when I noticed that the tissues in the bathroom were out (I do hab a code, rebember). Which means I had an empty tissue box, which means... mousie in da box!!
[Some of you may remember Yukon's fun with a paper ball in a tissue box previously and see what's coming - see the Box & Ball story.]
Up to now, only Taf & Polaris have been having much mousie fun, but the minute the box was on the floor, Yukon stuck both front paws in the hole and was ready for action! I put the purple mousie in da box, and Yukon leaped! Slid! Body slammed the box into the wall, into the dishwasher, he thumped it on its side and stuck his face threateningly into the hole.
Twinkle Afar watched in awe.
Each time Yukon got the mousie outta da box, I reset it, and he took off again. This was not a quiet stealth attack - oh no - it was loud and boisterous and Yukon had to fling himself and the box all over the place to get the mousie.
Jubilee also watched in awe.
When Yukon was winded and needed to take a moment's break, Twinkle Afar tentatively checked out the mousie in da box situation. Wow! This is almost as much fun as mousie on da stairs! Twinkle afar wrestles the box back and forth across the kitchen. She pulls the mousie out... and then drops it back in the hole! The crowd goes wild!!
Polaris came into the kitchen to see what all the noise is about.
Twinkle Afar spent a good 20 minutes or more playing with the mousie in da box. Polaris took a different mousie and went off to the parlor to sulk because she doesn't see what's so great about a dumb cardboard box. Twinkle Afar hooked the mousie out with her claw and threw it across the room at Jubilee. Yukon took a second turn at the box. It was noisy fun for the whole family.
And somehow our 19-year-old Australian boarder slept through the whole thing!
