It's all your fault, it really is.I have NEVER been tempted to buy kitty toys at the grocery store before. But with all you RPCAers talking about it, and talking about your cats' favorite fur mowsies, I just had to stop and look last night.
<flush of embarrassment> So I picked up a three-pack. </flush>
I took out the Very First Furry Mowsie.
Now, in my own defense, the cats have lots of toys. They have soft foam balls and other kitty toys from the store. Also mini-loofahs (dunno why), drain stoppers, crumpled up half sheets of paper, hair elastics, hazelnuts, and occasionally a leaf off one of the houseplants, a spider, or a moth. But I hadn't bought a furry mowsie since losing Chinook.
I tossed the mowsie to Polaris. She immediately, instantly, crammed it down between the seat & back of DH's big chair. And then had a fabulous time trying to get it back out again. Batted it around a bit... and then stuffed it back down the crack. She really got going in the chair seat, rolling on her back with her great furry bloomers and back feet stuck way up in the air. Yukon was most impressed.
Well, Polaris whacked it around for a while, then Twinkle-Afar caught sight of it when Polaris was carrying it in her mouth. Polly dropped it, and TAF came over to investigate. At first she tapped it cautiously with a velvet paw. Hm. Nice texture, interesting roll. Then she tapped again with a hint of claw. Whoa! The fur sticks on claws. Hey! You can *throw* this thing.
Twinkle-Afar spent hours last night 'tossing' the mowsie around the kitchen, dribbling it soccer style from room to room, then picking it up in her mouth and carrying it back to her lair (under the table).
What can I say. All of you have impeccable taste and your review panel is most correct. Mowsies are truly the ideal gift for any occasion.
