CAT PHILES

Chewie and Enzo

New Home, New Hiding Places

Well, Pat and I are finally moved into our new home. We are renting Britta and Dennis's condo while they are living in Thailand. It is very nice and we count ourselves very lucky to be living here, and to have such great landlords to boot!

The boys are loving it as much as we are. Because we are in a new space the furniture is arranged differently from the last home. This leads to new and interesting arrangements for the boys to explore! They couldn't ever get to the top of our wardrobe in the bedroom before. Now they can leap up from the scratching post. Of course, a bed was made up there for them. Can't have them sleeping on a hard wood surface!

Then there is the walk-in closet. It is quite big and we didn't need all the closet space, so we've put our computer and desk to one side... making a sort of computer cubby. Well, the desk is a prime launching pad to the top shelf where I put my sweaters. Enzo is very cute wiggling and squiggling himself into the sweaters, but I'm not so cute wearing hair plastered sweaters out in public! I guess turning them inside out before putting them away is the new thing I'll have to remember.

I think the only thing they aren't too fond of is the washer/dryer closet. We've never had a washer/dryer in our apartment before, always doing our laundry in a laundry room that serviced the whole apartment building. So the boys have never heard the many sounds that a washer and a dryer can make. Unlike the dishwasher noises which they are used to, the washer and dryer make different noises at different times. The spin cycle is particularly unpopular, leading Enzo to sit in front of the closet and stare at the door until it is done. His back hairs slightly spiked, and his feet in a position to jet him off to safety should the "monster" ever escape. Chewie only really pays attention to the dryer, especially if there is a pair of jeans in there and the fasteners are scraping against the sides as they go around.
