Cattail Has a New Job!

Cattail
~~ My Proud and Worthy Hunter ~~

Cattail's services were requested this morning. His hunting skills are well-known by a couple of neighbors who live next to the woods. One of them has begun feeding wild pheasants and a number of rats and mice have appeared on the scene to share the food. He asked if I might bring Cattail down there in hopes he would catch the rodents.

I went back home and found Cattail waiting for me, expecting a car ride. Instead, I carried him down there and he was surprised when I took him way out of his usual territory...probably wondered why. I set him down by several of the rat holes and let him sniff and look around. He showed considerable interest so I praised him and left.

I've been back twice to check on him and he's on the job! Hasn't caught anything yet, but he will. He's scoping out the immediate area and I last saw him sitting beside a log showing intense interest. I'm afraid the fun is over for the rats and mice. Death is not far off...it's just a matter of time...and Cattail has infinite patience and plenty of time (he's only 5½ years old)! smiley

The neighbor is pleased that Cattail took charge of his new assignment immediately. He is now a definite part of the "grounds crew" around here ... Chief Pest Control Officer, Specializing in Rodent Harrassment and Extermination.
