CAT PHILES

Waltzing Matilda

New Kittens In The House

One keeps forgetting how kittens behave, even if one has four cats in the house as we do.

Bindy and Windy (she farts a lot) joined us recently. What to do for them to have fun? First thing we did was buying a nice, cozy little bed they never used. They rather sleep in our beds, or on the sofa, or dining table, any place but in their beds!

Then I bought Windy a catnip stuffed mouse. She played one day with it and not it is lying somewhere hidden under some piece of furniture.

Then we bought Bindy a birdie toy. Bindy was less receptive, a couple of hours for her. The birdie is lying around and you know old cats are not that interested in those foolish games, so no one else plays with it.

Ah! But we got a small carton box accidentally dropped on the floor from some appliance we got, and there is no way we could manage to stop Bindy and Windy from fighting for the possession of the box and the rights to sleep alone in it.

Then here in Miami, people drink espresso coffee, Cuban style, in those little plastic recipients they used to have in hospitals to give pills to their patients. At the coffee shop they gave me two of those plastic cups (2" tall by 2" circumference) with some advertising printed in red on them that made them attractive.

I took them home and put them on top of the computer table. In no time, Windy spotted them, jumped on the table, swish them down to the floor and began to play with them. The cups make a disturbing rattling noise rolling all over the tile floors of the house. Windy loves that. Bindy joined her and both of them play all day and all night with the damned concoction. They look like football (soccer) players.

Suffice to say, that my brother and I are now getting used to sleep with the rocking rolling noise in the background. Why, try to take it away from, they jump on our beds, whistle in your ears, lick your arms and hand, jump on our tummy — no need to go on. You have a cat, you will understand!
