CAT PHILES

Maya, Vegas Cat

Parked Cars

The last few days I have been seriously trying to break Maya from sitting on parked cars. Last weekend a woman parked her car and left her sunroof open. It was only there a few minutes. She came out and while I did not see what happened I heard it. Maya had jumped up on top and slid through the sunroof into the car. She returned and opened the door, Maya literally went through the roof and the woman did the same figuratively. Not sure who scared who more.

Every time I see Maya on a car out I go to chase her off. Last night she decided to be stubborn, I know you're saying to yourselves, "A stubborn cat? Not possible." But it's true. I would go out there and chase her off the car. She would wait for me to return to the patio and my chair and then jump back up there. This went on for five full round trips. The sixth time she was up on top of the passenger area up high. When I reached for her she decided she was tired of being chased down and decided she was not going to take it any more. When I reached for her she swiped at me. I persisted and she connected with her paw. She had her claws out but not far. She was warning me. She was saying, she loves me but back off, she's not moving, she has the high ground and claws.

I returned to the patio and secured a spray bottle I keep for the plants. I squirted her, she somehow transported off the car instantly. I returned to the chair. She returned to the car. I squirted her again. She rethought her position. I doubt it is over.
