When I was a teenager growing up on a farm in Michigan, we had two dogs. One was Peanuts, a loveable collie who was the best friend of anyone who came to visit. He was buddies with all the cats. They would all sleep together.

We had another dog named Pepsi who was German Shepherd and Malamute and HUGE. He would bite strangers coming into the yard. He liked our cats, but no stray had better come onto his property. Of course we posted a great big "Beware of Dog" sign in our front window because of Pepsi.

Peanuts liked to take his naps in the front of the house. It was sunny and gave him shelter from the cold wind. On really sunny cold days you would see him stretched in the sunshine, with all the cats sleeping on top of him. Right under the "Beware of Dog" sign.
