Dave, DH, got back yesterday from a trip to the US (Lake Tahoe, CA and Tucson, AZ). Ted, calico DSH, missed him terribly - she and Dave have a special thing going whereby Dave does whatever she wants him to (including giving up his pillow). While Dave was away Ted was very affectionate to me, which I enjoyed. The problem came yesterday when I got Dave home from the airport. First off Ted ignored him - that's to be expected, after all, he's been away for a week and a half. We should know her well enough to know that ignoring him was just a warm-up. Her proper punishment started at bed time. She had to be between the two of us and she had to snuggle up to me and stick her claws into Dave. Okay, we can live with that. Then she got restless and spent most of the night walking on Dave's head and making lots and lots of noise getting on and off the bed (including sharpening her claws next to Dave's ear - something she hasn't done for years). She also refused to drink out of her own glass and insisted on drinking out of Dave's glass - loudly. Poor Dave - he got hardly any sleep and he was *so* tired after 24+ hours on planes and in airports (Tucson - LA - Sydney - Armidale).
The piece-de-resistance came this morning when she made sure we were both watching her and then, very slowly and absolutely deliberately, walked up to Dave's water glass and tipped it slowly off the bedside table onto the carpet. She then glared at us and leapt gracefully onto the floor and stalked off. There! Take that slaves! Who's da boss now, huh! Fortunately there wasn't much water in it, so there's no harm done, but Dave and I both laughed at Ted's revenge actions.
Hopefully she'll let us sleep tonight!
Yawn!
