One evening I was sitting in the kitchen doing a puzzle when along came Pena (pronounced pen-ya) - she decides she wants to look at the interesting thing I was doing. Pena insisted on walking all over the puzzle getting pieces stuck to her paws. No matter how many times I moved her away, slightly scolding her for being a pain, she continued to want to sit on the puzzle and be the centre of attention. Eventually I gave up and decided to go to bed, calling Pena to accompany me. She gave me a look that seemed to ooze contempt, so I gave up and went to bed thinking she was annoyed at me for not allowing her to sit on my puzzle. A few minutes later Pena came to bed and nuzzled down next to me like nothing was amiss. We slept peacefully. The next morning I got up and immediately headed of into the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee. When I reached the kitchen, I noticed that a piece of my puzzle was on the floor, chewed to bits. The puzzle piece had "mysteriously" been placed in the middle of the floor! I was annoyed, so I turned to go back to my room to confront Pena - I wanted to tell her what I thought of her manoeuvre. I found Pena sitting tall in the hallway looking at me with an air of dignity, blinking her eyes, just looking at me. She knew she was boss.
(Incidentally, the puzzle was returned to its box at the bottom of the cupboard where it still remains to this day.)
