The Scary Balloons

This morning as Lily and I left our house for our morning walk, we noticed one of the many neighborhood cats eagerly stalking a set of four balloons in the street. These balloons were tied together, obviously remnants from a weekend party.

They had lost enough helium to keep them hovering just above the ground. It was a breezy morning with the wind changing directions, causing the balloons to drag the long strings along the ground provoking great interest from the cat. The cat was really intense and enjoying it until the forces of nature redirected the balloons into the opposite direction causing the cat to beat a hasty retreat with ears firmly planted against its head. The strings were fun but the balloons were too threatening.

Lily and I watched this wonderful show for a few minutes as the cat and then the balloons would take turns becoming the aggressor. It was just one of the many times we have enjoyed a cat being a cat.
