CAT PHILES

The Cat Ascendant

Smelling the Triolets

In the Garden

Here in the garden among summer flowers,
The cat lies shaded beneath long stems,
There where in early spring the violet flowers.

Here in the garden among summer flowers
The cat spends many shadowed hours.

Lazing, he stretches out long limbs
Here in the garden among summer flowers.
The cat lies shaded beneath long stems.

A CAT in Majesty

I am a Cat come into my own.
About me all challengers scatter
But deep in the night their voices moan.

I am a Cat come into my own
But greet my lady in other tones.

Strong in power and hauter
I am a Cat come into my own.

About me all challengers scatter.

The Sunning Cat

I wish I were a sunning cat
Relaxed and lying in the warmth
On a stone or in the long cool grass.

I wish I were a sunning cat
To lie and watch the long day pass.

While noting all that moves, of course,
I wish I were a sunning cat
Relaxed and lying in the warmth.
