CAT PHILES

Dave's View

Sound effects

Sometimes when I'm too busy to watch what's going on, I hear the critters doing something, and by the time I look up, it's all over. There will be one or more critters giving me this innocent look, when just a moment before it sounded like that karate class that demolished a house barehanded.

Just now I heard a 'ftftftftf,' followed by 'puppity-puppity-puppity.' I looked up in time to see Cherokee coming down the stairs like a mountain climber on a steep talus slope, just barely touching the leading edge of each stair step as he raced to the bottom. Right behind him was Mac, thumping resoundingly on each step and almost keeping up with the cat. And I thought, "They can't do that! Neither one of them can run down the stairs like that." I half expected Sam to stick out a paw and trip both of them. They tied for the cat food dish and started gobbling, each of them afraid the other was going to get more.

How'd. . .no, WHY did they do that?
