CAT PHILES

THE ORIGINS OF FRITZIANITY

The Prophet: Part 3

And it came to pass that the Prophet Jeff was sore troubled, and spake unto the Great Cat and said, "Thou hast asked me to give unto you my devotion in both thy bodily form, and the form of others of thy kind. Yea, how am I to do this, when thou knowest that I am a Buddhist?"

And the Great Cat did say, "What doth it matter to me if thou art a Buddhist, or if thou wouldst worship Santa Claws? For verily the Way of Fritzianity is not one of rules and dogmas, but The Way of the Love of the Cat.

"Therefore, O Prophet, sayest thou unto the world this, that thou shalt be Christian or Jew or Muslim, or One Who Doth Follow In The Way Of Bob Dobbs, it mattereth not. Thou shalt only follow the Commandments of the Great Cat, and cause the Most Glorious Sound of Purr to come forth and bless the world; and the doctrines of thy cherished faiths thou shalt also keep, for we are not in conflict one with another."

And it came to pass that the Prophet Jeff did say, "One wouldst think that thy chosen way would be that of the Lady Bast."

And the Great Cat did say unto the Prophet Jeff, "Thou Two-Legged ones are most unwise, for thou debatest each other over what name thy gods may bear, and killest one another over how the name be spelled. If thou but look upon thy brother and consider that he may be like you, and verily love the Race of the Cat as much as thee! Mayhap thou shalt put an end to thy battles among men if the leaders among the Two-Legged ones only brought a Cat amongst them, with the offerings of Catnip and much petting! Such a Most Glorious Sound of Purr in thy United Nations shouldst surely bring peaceful tidings and soundness of mind!"

And the Prophet Jeff did say, "And shall our leaders so agree? For verily our Congress agreeth upon nothing."

And the Great Cat did say, "Thy parties are the work of men and are mere illusion. Rememberest thou that the Great Cat is the Center of the Universe and the Universe Itself, and when I Purrest, I doth Purr upon all, with no thought to party or affiliation or belief, for there be no condition to the love of a Cat. Now shalt thou verily pet thy cat, for Sweetie and I be one, and the world is in sore need of the Most Glorious Sound of Purr. And when thou doth wish to chant the Mantra of the Cat, sayeth thou thusly--MEEEEEOOOWWWWWWM!"
