CAT PHILES

In the fast lane with Daytona

Your timing's off, cat!

I was gone to attend my brother's college graduation this past weekend. During this time, I got sick and had to delay my return by a day. Even though I arranged for housesitters to come and play with her as they could, Daytona had the place to herself for longer than what she preferred.

I finally got in very late Monday night and was surprised to not see Daytona waiting for me by the window. When I entered, she came out of the bedroom and shunned me. She only gave me one little meow then went to inspect the luggage. When she realized that I had nothing for her, she acted quite indignant. I was too tired to fight over the issue, so I just went to bed.

It was almost midnight and I was just beginning to hit that wonderful moment right before deep sleep, when you feel the world fading away and all is well. Suddenly I felt 10 pounds of fur and muscle land on my chest. Daytona had changed her mind and her mood about me. She was walking all over my chest, kneading her paws, headbutting my face (which she almost never does!), purring at the top of her lungs (or vocal cords or whatever cats use to purr loudly), and yowling, "You didn't think I was serious, did you? Love me, love me, LOVE ME!"

Has anybody had any luck finding the clock reset button on their kitties?
