I didn't write about the Christmas tree going UP. Yukon didn't care at all. This year he seems to have the BTDT attitude. He stayed in the parlor and stuck his face in the back of the sofa and didn't look once. Twinkle Afar was all engrossed with mowsies, so she only came in to check once or twice. She did approve of the new parlor furniture though and would like to request more indoor trees for the other rooms. Jubilee disappeared into the basement that evening. But Polaris. For some reason this Tree was better than any other tree any year before. It was exciting when it was first put up, and then it got fun sparkling tinkly things all over it. Actually, the best thing has been the ribbons. For reasons of Cat, we don't use any tinsel or tinsel garlands, just long fabric ribbons. Well, those are wonderful for swatting & chewing and laying in wait. Polaris did a lot of scuttling around under the tree, opening presents and pulling on ribbons.
Today it all came down. And Polaris had to help with that, too! She helped pull the ribbons off. And she held down the tree skirt so it didn't get thrown out by accident. And she swished all the fir needles around to oil the floor with. Don't they smell nice? And she checked the boxes for the ornaments, and then she approved all the cleaning operations and gave advice on where all the furniture should go afterwards.
Polly really likes Christmas, I think.
