Tribute to Gemma

Dear Friends,

I am writing to let you know that a short while ago, our dear Gemma went quietly and without fuss to the Rainbow Bridge. Her behaviour this morning told us that she was ready to go. Peter, my husband, said goodbye to her before I drove her the short distance to her vet's surgery, from where she would begin her journey.

While Gemma and I waited for her journey to begin, she was content to lie on my lap and be stroked and to listen to me telling her more about her new, wonderful life at the Bridge. I did not tell her how much we would miss her for fear of breaking into tears which would have upset her.

When it was time for George, her vet, to send her on her way, Gemma was lying on his table with me holding her and telling her what a beautiful girl she was and how much Peter and I had enjoyed our life with her. While I was still speaking, I felt Gemma's head become heavy in my hands. Without uttering a sound or putting up any resistance, she had gone. Knowing this, is going to make it so much easier for Peter and me to cope with losing her.

Peter and I thank you for the concern you have shown for Gemma throughout her illness and for the many kind and sympathetic messages you have sent us.

Gemma wishes to be remembered as a young, fit, healthy and happy cat and therefore, has instructed us to show you the picture above of her when she was just such a cat.

If this is how Gemma looks now she is at the Rainbow Bridge, we hope she will attract many admirers. smiley.gif - 93 Bytes
