Tribute to Hobbes

Hobbes was a 4 month old, 1 lb starving stray when he came into our lives... it took me six weeks of constantly dragging a fox tail weed, and shortening it by a mere fraction of an inch, each night to finally get him into petting range.. weeks more before he would venture into the house. But once he discovered the bowls of free flowing food he was ours, we couldn't have gotten rid of him if we wanted to. Hobbes was regally beautiful with an Egyptian nose and bold stripes, he wasn't very smart, but he made up for it with his gentle insistence in touching you whenever you were near. He alone would lay curled up against Shadow's back in Shadow's twilight years.

Hobbes came in this morning and was fine, but an hour later his breathing was labored, we rushed him to the vet, but he died on the way. The vet said cardiomyopathy, something we didn't know he had. Hobbes was only six years old.

We have lost 2 cats in the last year, and almost lost Webby, I still miss Shadow, and now I lose Hobbes. Life in this last year has been hard.

In Loving Memory of Hobbes
