![]() I will never forget you as long as I live. |
Yes just showed up out of the blue one day - a black kitten probably about six months old. I saw him lying in the grass in the back yard watching me. I got a can of food and put it out for him and he finally came and ate.We have a bench and that is where I would feed him. Yes would eat then go back into the woods. Well came a day I said no more, if you want food come and get it on the patio. He finally came and ate. From there he let me touch him. Then he became a lap kitty.
Yes ran a tight ship, he allowed no other cats in the yard or near our house. We had a little kitty and he would chase her if he saw her and attack. In the winter I would wrap up in an electric blanket and set with Yes in the garage, as if he came in the house he would attack Luvy.
I was often asked how we named him Yes. Yes would cry when I fed him or called him, as if saying "Hurry up with my food, daddy" and I would always say "Yes, I hear you". So he started answering to the name of Yes. He would always be outside waiting for me, no matter how bad the weather.
Yes loved to play with a roll of paper towels, he would bite and tear them to pieces. Sometimes he would just jump up and bite the fire out of me and then run and hide. I never could get him to stop. He bit me on a Sunday on the back of my right hand. After a week in Hospital and losing use of my hand I came home. Yes had attacked Rainy Boy and had Luvy so traumatized that she would lose control of her bladder at the very sight of him. I knew it was a matter of time before he killed Rainy or Luvy or both. So with a very heavy heart I made the hardest decision I have ever made. I had Yes put to sleep on 18 November, 2005. I still cry for him and guess I always will. I loved him like a son. I kept his brush, his toys and some hair of his to put with his ashes. I am often asked if I had him put to sleep because he had bit me, to which I reply "I loved him very much and would NEVER do that to him because he bit me."
Yes, good bye old friend. And may God and you forgive.
Daddy
