CAT PHILES

TJ and The Dust

The Truce

About three days ago two little birds starting building a nest in a cactus right outside the living room window. Well Dusty was very intrigued by this activity and has basically been glued to the window for days now. This cactus is about six inches from the window so the birds are right in Dust's face.

Day 1: Dust notices birds, birds notice Dust. Birds are not at all pleased with this big furry blob watching them build their home. There is lots of screeching and banging at the window from the birds end and lots of "acking" and tail thumping from Dust. Even though the birds seem agitated they continue to plump up their little nest.

Day 2: Nest is built and birds have made themselves comfy. Dusty is still glued to the window (there are kitty nose prints all over the place). Birds still screeching and fussing but they are not banging at the window anymore.

Today: There are three eggs in the nest. Mamma bird is contently warming them up. Dad comes and goes. No more screeching, no more banging. Dusty is still plastered to the window and is contently snoozing.

It seems as though Dust has come to the conclusion that the birds are not food but his new pets. And the birds realize Dust cannot get them. I can't wait until the little babies are born. Does this make Dusty an Uncle or something?
