Driving home last evening, a thunderstorm coming up I saw a small form by the side of the road Pulling over I walked back to where it lay A black kitty, no collar or tag no way to know where it lived I picked it up & took it to the car, the body still warm The over head light showed I held death It looked so like my little Inky A little female, someone's pet, not a stray Rain was beginning so I closed the hatch and got in At home, in the garage, put the limp form into a cardboard box This morning, after the rain, the ground was soft & muddy The post hole digger went down easily Just next to where my beloved Kitty Bear lies Pushed the box down to the bottom Voiced a prayer through tears Filled in the hole and covered it with a rock against the foxes Tomorrow I will post a notice in hopes that someone will see the message. |

This is a true account of what happened last night. Not the first time that I have preformed this sad duty nor will it be the last, much as I wish it were.
