Beautiful morning here in SOUTHERN California!I was holding Creampuff (all 22 lbs of him) a while ago. He was stretched out so that his front paws and nose were in my neck, and he was purring like mad! I, too, was comfortable and content, so we stayed that way for quite a while.
Suddenly, Gizzi appeared out of left field. He leapt up without checking out the territory first, which is typical of Gizzi. He stopped short when he saw Creampuff, then decided he liked what he saw. He settled himself down and leaned against Creampuff's broad side while he groomed his (Gizzi's) gorgeous bod.
I don't think Creampuff even knew Gizzi was there. He continued to purr happily, while I stroked and patted. Gizzi was also a happy boy, so he closed his little eyes for a nap. Pure contentment reigned for about 20 minutes. Then Creampuff slowly raised his head and turned it around to see what was going on behind his back.
When he saw Gizzi, he stopped purring. Gizzi, suddenly alerted, looked up, too. They gazed at each other and neither moved a whisker. I think in that moment they each promised not to ever again speak about what had just happened, as long as it never happened again!
Gizzi didn't run away, bless his sweet heart. He stood up, stretched, and carefully jumped to the floor. Creampuff just went back to sleep, paws working in my neck and sweet rumble of purring reaching my ears.
Such is life in "cat country!"
