CAT PHILES

Caroline's Gang of Four

Under cover with Yogi

Today we had a new heat pump and water heater installed. There were two workmen. Strangers. Yogi is terrified of strangers, *especially* work men (and my parents, for some reason). His method of coping with strangers is to crawl up under the down comforter on our bed, and to hang out in the middle of the bed until the danger is safely passed. We had all four boys closed up in the bedroom today, to keep them out of the workmen's way and from escaping outside. Even with the door closed, Yogi stayed under the comforter. I was home studying for a final exam (only one more to go!) and got really sleepy, so I decided to take a nap.

I got under the comforter with Yogi, who promptly curled up at my side, nudging my hand with his head for ear rubs and purring for all he was worth. He squirmed around for a while for me to scritch every angle. Fizzgig hopped up to join us at my feet (above comforter). Pippin came up and meatloafed himself onto my chest. Then I had to worship at the throne, so I managed to get Pippin off my chest, and he squashed Yogi, who then moved over. When I came back to bed, I squeezed in around Pippin and Fizz, Yogi was still moved over, under the covers, and Mithu decided to join the fun. Only the Yogi/Pippin combo was taking up Mithu's spot next to me. Mithu did some exploratory stepping, and was none to pleased to step on a lumpy Yogi. So I got a reproachful stare for a few minutes until Mithu hopped off again. The rest of my nap (I did actually sleep a little) was surrounded by cats, true dreamland bliss!
