FLIPPY & MIA'S STORIES

Update on Chloe

Just wanted to thank you all for your kind emails about the newest addition to my household. I apologise if I haven't replied to you yet, I've been extremely busy with the new furball.

As for the new kitty, Chloe, she is doing very well. She has settled in and is as cute as can be. I weighed her (on the kitchen digital scales!) the first day we got her and again yesterday, and she has gained 40 grams in three days. She is eating solids, the IAMS Kitten Food, and is also having special kitty milk 3 times a day. Since Mia is away until Saturday, I've been keeping Chloe mainly in my bedroom, with supervised walks through the rest of the house. I've also taken her outside and she likes that too.

Because of Chloe's tender age, she is not litterbox trained. It is a challenge to get her to use the litterbox, but she is slowly getting used to the idea that poo belongs in the litterbox, and not behind the TV. She now uses the litterbox most of the time, but sometimes she forgets. That's okay though, she has done well in four days.

I've made Chloe a "nest" under the bedside table in my bedroom, and she sleeps there most of the time. However, last night I brought her to bed with me and she slept between the sheets all night. It was too cute! She walked around wriggling and tickling me for a while, but then she settled right down.

Sailor is a very placid pooch, so kind and he wouldn't hurt a fly. But when he came up to Chloe to give her a good sniff, she hissed, spat, and growled at him and did the puffy thing. Poor Sailor just walked away and has left her alone since then.

Needless to say Romeo and Juliet are still peeved at me for bringing Chloe home. They are both still hissing and growling at her, but I must admit that they are getting better. I've been giving them lots of cuddles and telling them that I still love them, but they don't care. Both Romeo and Juliet have been into the bedroom where Chloe is, but mainly to eat her food. I don't mind them having a bit of Chloe's food because I figure that if they can get used to her odor they will learn to accept her more quickly.

Chloe is full of energy (when she's awake), and very playful. I am only just managing to keep up with her! I've forgotten what it's like to have a baby in the house, constantly demanding attention. She has to be in the same room with me and follows me everywhere. If she cant see me she whines and squeaks until I come get her. LOL! I remember my Romeo & Juliet were like that too when they were babies, so I expect that Chloe will grow out of it sooner or later. Did I mention that Chloe doesn't actually "meow" as much as "squeak"? She is very talkative and squeaks (talks?) a lot, even in her sleep. It is very funny to watch her.

Other than that, I've been taking lots of photos of her doing all sorts of cute kitten things which are now up on the catpage.
