Well you knew something would happen gang... Things have been too quiet around the old territory.Cleo and Velvet were having their usual pre-dinner roughhouse on Tuesday, according to routine, and it's funny to watch now that Velvet is bigger than Cleo.
Cleo employs all her skills as a former outdoor "warrior kitty". (She used to stalk in, and head straight for the basement, and hide under a chair when injured in a fight, with me following saying "Ohhh God! another trip to the Vet!") But Velvet has always been an indoor kitty, but I think over the years has learned a few things from Cleo. Besides, she's a bit naive and gets carried away sometimes. Cleo is patient with her, because she loves her so much.
This time the "carried away er" gave the "carried away ee" a bit too much. There was a loud yelp from Cleo during the fight. It continued for a bit, but Cleo was not amused, and stalked off, not for dinner as usual but to the bedroom. I know THAT behavior! I thought I'd seen the last of it when the "warrior kitty" retired indoors. Sure enough, she had a nice bleeding puncture wound over the left eye.
Looks like no trip to the Vet required (yet), but I'll keep a close watch on it. Just a deep claw wound. Velvet was washing Cleo before bed later that night.
You know, Cleo could rip Velvet limb from limb, judging by some of "the other cat" results I've seen when Cleo was in her prime. But she just loves her too much I guess.
