CAT PHILES

The Highland Furkids

The Still Vigilent Roadcat

Harri tends to be a very protective guardian. Whenever I go downstairs to do a load of laundry I can count on hearing the "thump-thump-thump" as Harri does her little-kitten-on-the-big-stairs descent right behind me. Last night, though, she missed the opportunity.

Yesterday the weather was nice and warm so I let everybody out to play in the back yard when I got home. All six of the kitties went out. Harri was her usual playful self, then she engaged in one of her new favorite activities, exploring the windows that look down into the basement. One of these windows, her favorite so far, is right above the washer and dryer.

So when I got to the laundry station I had an audience. When I got started loading the washer I noticed the available light changing. I looked up and saw Harri standing right there watching me so I opened the sliding window. Harri was then able to talk to me through the window screen. And talk to me she did! For at least 5 minutes she told me about all the dangerous things that lurk in basements and aren't visible to mere humans. She seemed quite relieved when I left the basement. And when she came in from playing in the yard - excuse me, from patrolling the back yard - she hopped up in my lap and gave me a nice, long snuggle.
